I found a real book gem yesterday when a friend had a big sale of her pre-loved books. To be fair, it was my friend who made the find and showed it to me.
Published in 1917, this little book of almost 98 years vintage, is in beautiful condition.
Originally priced at 4 shillings, this 137 page volume is a pocket edition for the trenches.
Pocket editions for the trenches were especially made for our soldiers: at 4 1/2 inches wide and 5 3/4 inches long, they fitted perfectly into a hip pocket. (I even tried my lovely edition on my husband's work jeans and it fitted the hip pocket beautifully)
In the gallery below are some scans of my lovely new book from the trenches. Just left click on an individual picture for closer detail.
